CLARITY – Cognitive Loss Assessment, Reporting and Interactive Training for the elderlY is a 36-month collaborative research project developing advanced Artificial Intelligence methods for the prediction, early detection and monitoring of cognitive decline.
Funded under the “Research – Innovate” (Ερευνώ – Καινοτομώ) programme, CLARITY has a total eligible budget of approximately €1.59 million, with approximately €475,000 allocated to the University of Macedonia.
The project aims to develop an AI-enabled digital environment for older adults and patients with cognitive disorders, combining personalised digital interaction and non-pharmacological interventions with AI-based methods for assessing the possible onset and progression of cognitive impairment. Predictive models will integrate information generated through the digital platform with clinical, laboratory and imaging data.
Within CLARITY, the University of Macedonia research team contributes to core Artificial Intelligence components, including AI agents and Large Language Models, predictive modelling and neural systems, and Wavelet Neural Networks for speech analysis.
For the FTSAI Lab, CLARITY forms part of its Strategic AI research pillar. It provides a real-world setting for investigating how advanced AI systems can be designed and integrated into consequential decision environments where predictive capabilities interact with human expertise, organisational processes and clinical decision-making.
The project brings together the University of Macedonia, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, DATALABS, and healthcare and diagnostic organisations, combining expertise in Artificial Intelligence, data analytics, clinical research and healthcare innovation.
